But we need hosts! If you are considering hosting a potluck but need a little motivation, here are some great reasons: get your house clean and organized, show off your cooking and favorite main dish, foster community and fun! If you would like to host a “Community Harvest Supper” at your home sometime in October or early November, please contact Sue Myers or Carole Boster via email or phone by September 15 and let them know the date & time for your event, and how many guests you can accommodate; they’ll send you back a quick questionnaire to gather further details for the sign-up sheet. Being a steward is an opportunity to get to know new people, share your passion and commitment for UUSE and help make our Annual Appeal a success. The commitment time is short with one training session and a couple of weeks to contact 2 - 4 members or friends. The stewardship conversations are a time of fellowship and sharing our dreams and aspirations. Talking about financial commitment is a small part of a much larger conversation about generosity and community. So please consider volunteering to be a steward this year. We especially want people who have never been stewards before, especially parents! The steward will use a personal visit (if both feel comfortable), email, phone calls, texts, etc. to get in touch with people to answer any questions and remind them to fill out their pledge form and return it to Annie. Personal canvassing will be from March 18 - April 6, 2026. We will provide training on Thursday evening, March 5 or Saturday morning, March 7, 2026. Specific times will follow. A Viet Nam veteran, he was blessed to attend about 12 Buddhist retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh and others and he will share some of his experiences and Buddhist teachings. It's a picnic package which will include standard ballpark fare and vegetarian options, free water and soft drinks and a chance to meet other UUs in the area. Doors and the picnic open at 4:30 p.m. with the game scheduled to start at 6:10 p.m. The picnic will remain open and serving food until about 7:00 p.m. A fireworks show follows the game. We are excited our 3 societies are exploring how we can work and play together. Tickets are $50 per person and must be sold by June 30th, but if you need some help, some financial assistance is available. Interested? For anyone who has had a connection to an animal, you have felt the interdependence of all life. On August 23rd, we will lift up our non-human family and celebrate all that they bring to our lives. If you have, or have had, an animal in your life that you would like to hold in spirit that day (note: we will not be blessing animals in the sanctuary), please send us a photo along with the animal's name, and whether the animal is living or has passed - we would love to create a slideshow to use in the service. In addition, if you have a story, poem or song that you would be willing to share, please reach out to us. We may not be able to use all of them but we would like to incorporate as much as possible. And we'd love to hear from the children and youth as well!!
