Special Screening: Dawnland

Special Screening: Dawnland
A documentary about cultural survival and stolen children
Tuesday, May 27th, 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. in the Meeting Room
For decades, child welfare authorities have been removing Native American children from their homes to "save them from being Indian." In Maine, the first official Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the United States begins a historic investigation. Dawnland goes behind-the scenes as this historic body grapples with difficult truths, redefines reconciliation and charts a new course for state and tribal relations. This event is co-sponsored by the Adult Religious Education and Social Justice/Anti-Oppression Committees. All are welcome. Adult themes include family separation, boarding school, adoption and fostering. For additional information or to receive a study guide email Meghan MacRae.
