In Maine, the first official Truth and Reconciliation Commission in the United States begins a historic investigation. Dawnland goes behind-the scenes as this historic body grapples with difficult truths, redefines reconciliation and charts a new course for state and tribal relations. This event is co-sponsored by the Adult Religious Education and Social Justice/Anti-Oppression Committees. All are welcome. Adult themes include family separation, boarding school, adoption and fostering. Nothing like communing with nature and UUs to lift your spirits! We'll prepare the grounds for summer and share information about upcoming B&G projects. This is a time for all ages - kids and youth welcome with a responsibe adult. Dress for the weather and bring your favorite lawn tools (we do have some to borrow). We'll provide snacks, beverages, and some guidance. For more information, contact Jane Osborn or Cory Clark. "Shoalers" - those who attend - consider it a spiritual home. David and Jane have been part of the Institute on Religion in an Age of Science for decades, and this year were joined by Stan McMillen. The service will share some insights from this year's conference on Science and Spirituality. Coordinators : Jane Penfield and David Klotz. In the words of Rev. Heather Concannon, “one of the sacred tools we must draw on is imagination. The tool of not just denouncing the world as it is, but of announcing: here’s what I imagine a better world to look like.” This service explores the ways that members of our UUSE community use imagination to conjure “the world our hearts know is possible”.
