Mission of this Committee :

The mission of the Denominational Affairs committee is to strengthen the connections between our congregation and the member congregations of the Clara Barton District and the Unitarian Universalist Association.  This will be done by encouraging participation in denominational events; keeping the congregation informed of regional, district and continental issues and gathering opinions of the congregation for the UUA through congregational discussions

Programs, Opportunities, Activities and Work of the Committee

Have you ever wondered....

UUS:E is a member congregation of many different associations. We are one of the Hartford Area UU Churches (along with Hartford and West Hartford congregations); East of the River Unitarian Universalists Pulling Together also called ERUUPT (along with New London, Norwich, Storrs and Brooklyn congregations); Clara Barton District, CBD (along with 60+ congregations); and the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, UUA (representing over 1,000 UU congregations). At each of these different levels of associaton there are many ways that UUS:E can be involved, reach and influence people.

Some of the ways that the Denominational Affairs committee can liaison between UUS:E and these organizations:

The Denominational Afairs committee can be a wonderful place for newcomers to UU to learn more about the UU faith. Or it can be an outlet for long time members to expand beyond our congregation and community to see the varied ways UU's live their faith. And for everyone it can be a way to connect to the world wide movement to bring the message of Unitarian Universalism to all people.

Contact Lynn Dove at lynndove@gmail.com if you are interested in serving on the committee. Meetings are held every other month.

On June 10 twenty-five members of the five congregations that make up East of the River Unitarian Universalists Palnning together (ERUUPT) met together to discuss their progress and challenges.  The five congregations that make up ERUUPT are Manchester, Storrs, Brooklyn, Norwich and New London.  The long range goal is to be able to call two minister who would be split between the five congregations to provide a variety of servicesto each congregation based on the congregations' needs.  A few steps are being taken to get to know each better:

Carter will teach strategies for leading theologically diverse congregations and how congregations might have a positive impact on a theologically diverse world.

Find out more from the UU University Web page. General Assembly, a meeting of congregations, begins on June 25 and runs through June 29 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The theme for
