Mission of thisCommittee: To interpret and promote the UUS:E mission
through notices and publicity within UUS:E and to the community, public and
to UU congregations. Places advertising. Writes and sends publicity to the press, media and other UU societies. Publishes monthly Newsletter.
Develops and maintains the web site. Tapes and televises services and
programs for use within the congregation and on local cable television. Oversees the Sunday Bulletin. Creates
flyers and posters. Archives publicity. Maintains bulletin boards
and provides brochures. Serves as the clearing house for all inward
and outward bound communications within the society.
The Communications Committee presently is looking for writers,and graphic artists.
We are producing a new, all-society brochure, a folder for Membership, and are revising the Publications Guidelines so that they will include all communications for and from the society. Underway is a training session on the UUS:E web site. In May we will conclude our work on a video in which our minister and individuals of the congregation explain why they come to UUS:E. Your help is needed!
Programs and Activities of
the Committee:
- Newsletter: deadline the third Wednesday of each month. The newsletter is distributed electronically to about 80% of members and friends and through the post office to the other 20%. It is also available on the desk in the foyer.
- The Web Site: UUSE.org is our ever-growing link to the world. It contains listings of all committees and actitivies. It is updated regulary, contains an all-society calendar, a Religious Education Calendar, and an Annual Appeal/Capital Campaign Calendar. The web site is easily accessed. a vital organ of the society (UUSE.org)
- The committee writes and distributes all press and advertising for the society. It maintains lists of press and media contacts.
- Cable Television presentations of Sunday Services on Cox Cable (Mondays
at 4 P.M.) on ComCast at various times and on Charter.
- VHS or DVD of Services Available in Office
For over a year now we have been videotaping many of the Sunday Services at UUS:E. After their run on the three community access channels (Cox in Manchester, Community Voice Channel in Bolton and Charter Communications in Windham) the tapes/DVDs are brought to the UUS:E office and are in a box next to the copier. These videos may be borrowed by any of our members and friends. Miss a service? Check it out. We may have a copy you can borrow. Bob Hewey
- The committee produces the all-society brochure for the society and assists committees in writing brochures for individual commitees .
- The committee produces graphic designs for dsitribution throughout the society and to the public.
- The committee maintains a Writers Group who help to produce pieces for the society.
- The committee is preparing a video in which the minister and various constituencies are interviewed. the video will be used for distribution to various media and cable franchises to introduce UUS:E. It should be ready for televising and loan to members and friends in May.
The committee meets monthly on the first Monday of the month.
Needs of the Committee:
- The committee is always in need to people who can write and edit well, graphic designers and individuals who
are trained in all aspects of media and communications work and who wish
to develop additional means of outreach and communications within the society
and to the public.
SHARE YOUR UUS:EAST PHOTOS…
- ...for use in the newsletter or web site. If you take digital
photos of UUS:EAST events or happenings, you can share them with each
other via the Newsletter or the web site. We are always looking for current
photos to add to our new web site or as part the newsletter. Now there is
a way for you to get involved.
- Joe Madar has set up
an account in the Kodak Photo web site -kodakgallery that
is available to everyone with a computer and internet access. If you would
like to give us access to your photos, please follow the directions below
to do this. Remember that there is no guarantee that your photos will be
used, but we will give credit for those that we do use.
DIRECTIONS for sharing your photos:
- log into kodakgallery.com
- Type in our email address uuse153@sbcglobal.net
- Type in password liberal
- Create a new album with an appropriate name including the event name
and your name in the title ( there is an example called UU
Fair Madar for you to see)
- You can also type in details in the description box
- Upload your photos following the directions - there are 2 methods to
use - either dragging each photo into the album or using the Easyupload
software offered.
- Send an email to Joe madar and Nancy Lister that you have
created an album.
